The Story

Working together with our US licensee, in 2018, G-volution has developed a dual fuel CAT C 18 engine for use in shunting locomotives. 4 such shunters were converted to run on diesel/CNG. 

The fuel was supplied locally. Significant carbon, cost and particulate reduction resulted.

Grand Central’s world first dual fuel passenger train

The Story

Grand Central is the first train operator in the world to use a revolutionary new ‘dual fuel’ system which improves air quality by reducing diesel use and emissions on its passenger services. 

Working with dual fuel technology pioneers, G-Volution, Grand Central has started trials of the G-Volution Optimiser, using a mix of diesel and liquified natural gas (LNG) on one of its Class 180 Adelante trains.

The Story

A UK first in Rail, a dual fuel diesel and green (zero net carbon) liquid petroleum gas (LPG) freight locomotive. 

G-volution Ltd designed and installed a dual fuel optimiser engine enhancement and LPG tanking solution to a Class 73 freight locomotive operated by Network Rail.
